- In this diary, Sarah records all of her thoughts as her family sails across the ocean in 1634 to find a new home in Massachusetts. Sarah describes her worries and fears as her family has to live in destitute conditions and accept help from the Native Americans upon their arrival in the New World. Though the beginning of her family's settlement is uncertain, eventually a thriving community begins to grow in what will soon be America
